The Hockanum Valley Ringers are an auditioned community handbell ensemble that began rehearsing for the first time together on October 8, 2005. We play a combination of Malmark and Schulmerich handbells, and are dedicated to bringing quality handbell music to the local community and beyond. We perform a variety of styles of music, from classical and Broadway to pop and jazz, along with a sprinkling of contemporary original music written especially for handbells. Our concerts typically also include a variety of classic Christian hymns and songs arranged for handbells and chimes.
The director is Greg Fisher, formerly Music Director at Trinity Lutheran Church. Mr. Fisher has been directing bell choirs since 1977, and has directed performances from Boston to Hartford. He has attained Director Level 1 accreditation from AGEHR.
The members of the Hockanum Valley Ringers hail from South Windsor, Ellington, Vernon, Tolland and Manchester, and we all participate in church bell choirs in the area. If you are interested in learning more about the local bell choirs, please contact us for information. We hold periodic auditions for replacement ringers to participate in our future ringing events. Please see Greg Fisher (860-647-1470) if you are interested in joining us as a regular ringer or substitute.
